Kokoro, meaning 'heart' in Japanese, perfectly encapsulates the intimate and personalised dining experience that awaits guests. Founded by the dynamic chef duo Daniel Lee (affectionately known as Ducky) and Patrick Pham, Kokoro originated in Houston, Texas, and has been delighting sushi enthusiasts for over eight years. The concept now brings its innovative Japanese cuisine to Dubai, blending contemporary flavours with traditional techniques, as the UAE's first hand roll sushi bar, nestled within the trendy Alserkal Avenue.

At Kokoro, guests have the unique opportunity to sit at the counter and witness the skilled chefs in action. The talented team slices, spices, and serves a variety of sushi and hand roll dishes live, using only the finest ingredients sourced from trusted suppliers. From the succulent Hamachi (Japanese yellowtail) to the melt-in-your-mouth A5 wagyu nigiri, every bite showcases the restaurant's commitment to culinary excellence. The 44-seater venue, designed as a traditional Japanese restaurant and harmonised by a Feng Shui expert from Hong Kong, features 18 stools wrapped around the bar and 26 table seats. The interior is adorned with potted plants, hanging lamps, and neon signs, creating a cool and casual ambience with quirky rubber duck mascots. The menu is intentionally curated, focusing on fresh fish and meat. Diners can explore four distinct sections: hand rolls, crudo, nigiri & sashimi, and salads. Must-try items include the spicy tuna hand roll and a salmon nigiri that instantly melts in your mouth.

Kokoro caters to various occasions, from a casual date night to a quick lunch, making it a must-visit for food lovers in Dubai. As the menu continues to evolve, focusing on seasonal produce, each visit promises a unique culinary journey. In the future, the restaurant plans to introduce new experiences, such as an Omakase pairing menu. With its dedication to fresh ingredients, skilled chefs, and inviting atmosphere, Kokoro is set to become a staple in Dubai's dining scene, offering a true taste of Japan in Alserkal Avenue.
